If you have been searching for how to import any used car or truck to Canada, you, like many other savvy Canadian buyers have found the right place.  The difference you will find with Lupient is we have your best interests in mind.  We want to make the process of buying a car or truck in the US as painless as possible.  We offer a full range of services to purchase your new vehicle or used vehicle.  You can opt to fly/drive in to the Mpls/St Paul area and handle all of the border documentation yourself or have the vehicle shipped across the border right to your door (including titling the vehicle in Canada).  Which ever way you go Lupient will help you get there.

We have sold hundreds of vehicles to Canadian buyers over the past few years.  And in the process we have obtained a wealth of knowledge that we pass along to our clients.   

More recently, since the rapidly increasing value of the Canadian dollar, buyers are looking for cars and trucks in the US.  However, many vehicle manufacturers have made it very difficult if not impossible to buy new vehicles from their US retailers.  New GM's for example has specifically outlined in it's dealer agreement that retailers cannot sell new/untitled GM's to Canadians.  We can, however, sell used GM's to Canadians.

Thankfully, almost any brand of used cars and trucks lets its' dealers sell to Canadian buyers.  Because of this, we made the decision to put  together a page on our website to help people like you get informed about the process as mush as possible.  Below you will find a check list along with helpful links to save thousands of dollars on your next purchase.

Things you will need to know before crossing the border yourself (if you use Capital Auto Brokers you will not need to worry about these things, they will get them on your behalf).
- Recall clearance letter from the manufacture.
- The vehicle must bear a manufacturer's valid U.S. statement of compliance label at the time of importation.
- The Registrar of Imported Vehicles will mail a Canadian statement of compliance label to you after passing the federal inspection.
- Valid alpha-numeric 17-digit VIN (all of our vehicles have this).
- Metric speedometer and odometer labels (provided by inspection centre).
- Daytime running lights (We can arrange to have this done but none of our prices reflect the added cost, most times it will be around $400).
- Infant restraint kit (many vehicles have this standard).
- Child tether anchorage (refer to Admissibility List)(many vehicles have this standard).
- 8 km/hour bumpers (refer to Admissibility List)(many vehicles have this standard).
- French supplementary restraint system label for airbags that require periodic maintenance.
More things you should know (again Capital Auto Brokers will assist with these things if you use their services).
- You will need to fax a copy of the Bill of Sale and the MSO or title to US Customs 72 hours in advance to crossing.
- US Customs may have some fees associated with crossing (Typically $195 US).
- Once you cross the border there will be a 6.1% Tariff from the Canadian Government.
- Typically wire transfer is the best way to purchase your vehicle. If you absolutely need to pay with a check we hold the MSO/Title to the vehicle for 10 business days (you will not be able to cross with out it). However, there are very reasonably priced storage facilities near the border you can store the vehicle until the 10 day grace period has pasted. 
- You will need to have insurance on the vehicle before picking it up. Your insurance agent will let you know the process as far as that is concerned.
- We have done this many times before, but it is always a good idea to call the border, your financial institution and your insurance agent before making a decision
